Amazon Price Alerts for Hard Drives, SSDs and RAM
The ratioDB price alert emails you as soon as a hard drive, SSD or RAM on amazon.com drops below your target price per TB or hits a new 90-day low. ratioDB checks 934 listings every 2 hours for this. The price alert is free and needs no password. You set it on any product type, size or product page with the "Price alert" button.
How does the ratioDB price alert work?
You pick a product type, a size or a single product and set a target price per TB, or choose "Every 90-day low". After you click the confirmation link, ratioDB checks with every new price update whether a matching listing reaches your target.
- Open a page, for example internal 3.5" hard drives or M.2 NVMe SSDs.
- Tap "Price alert" and pick condition and target. The suggestions −5%, −10%, −15% and −20% start from the currently cheapest listing.
- Enter your email address and tap "Confirm alert" in the email. The link is valid for 48 hours.
- Once the cheapest matching listing is at or below your target, you get 1 email with the product, price per TB and a link.
When does the price alert fire?
An alert with a target fires as soon as the cheapest matching listing is at or below the target, and only fires again after the price went back above it. An "Every 90-day low" alert reports every new low that is at least 0.5% below the previous one.
That way you do not get flooded when a price stays below your target for days. ratioDB sends at most 3 alert emails a day, bundles several hits into 1 email and sends nothing between 22:00 and 7:00 in your local time.
What can I set a price alert for?
For every product type on ratioDB, for a specific size such as 20 TB and for a single product. You choose new, used or renewed and can run up to 10 alerts at the same time.
TB index per product type, as of Oct 28, 2026, source amazon.com
| Product type | TB index | 7 days | 90-day low |
|---|---|---|---|
| HDD internal 3.5" | $36.25/TB | +0.4% | $34.37/TB |
| HDD external | $43.68/TB | +0.7% | $41.57/TB |
| SSD NVMe | $133.85/TB | +0.8% | $125.00/TB |
| SSD SATA | $121.03/TB | +1.2% | $118.69/TB |
| SSD external | $125.50/TB | −0.4% | $119.49/TB |
| microSD | $0.207/GB | −0.3% | $0.207/GB |
| RAM DDR5 | $15.58/GB | +0.4% | $13.22/GB |
| LTO-8 to 10 | $6.79/TB | 0.0% | $6.25/TB |
The TB index is the median of the 10 cheapest new listings of a product type. It helps you pick a realistic target: a target between the 90-day low and today's index is reached more often than one below the low.
How much does the price alert cost?
The price alert is free. You need no password: signing up and signing in work through a link by email, and you stay signed in on that device.
ratioDB is funded through Amazon affiliate links. If you buy through a link, ratioDB earns a small commission at no extra cost to you. With the account you also get your watchlist and comparisons on every device. You see, change, pause and delete all alerts under My price alerts. If you like, you also get the weekly TB index by email every Monday.
How is ratioDB different from classic price trackers?
Classic price trackers such as camelcamelcamel watch single products. ratioDB alerts you to the cheapest listing of a whole product type or size, measured in price per TB, across all matching products.
An example: an alert "internal 3.5" hard drives below $36.25/TB" fires for any matching new drive, whatever the brand or size. With a product alert you would have to watch every model on its own. If you only want one model, set the alert on its product page.
How often does ratioDB check prices?
ratioDB fetches amazon.com prices every 2 hours and then checks all price alerts. The last update was on Oct 28, 2026 at 1:17 PM UTC.
What counts is the price without shipping at the time of the update. Amazon changes prices all the time, so check the price in your cart before you buy. The methodology explains how ratioDB calculates. Price drops without an alert are listed under SSD deals and hard drive deals.
Price alert FAQ
Is the price alert really free?
Yes. There is no paid version and no subscription. You only enter your email address and confirm it.
How do I delete a price alert?
Under My price alerts, tap the trash icon next to the alert and confirm. Every alert email also has links to unsubscribe from that alert or from everything with 1 click.
How many price alerts can I set?
Up to 10 at the same time. ratioDB creates the same alert with the same target only once.
Why did I not get a confirmation email?
Check your spam folder. The link is valid for 48 hours, after that ratioDB deletes the unconfirmed sign-up. Simply set the alert again.
Does the price alert work for used hard drives?
Yes. In the alert window you choose new, used or renewed. ratioDB never mixes conditions: an alert for new drives only reports new listings.
Is there a price alert for amazon.de?
Yes. On the German site of ratioDB the price alert works the same way for amazon.de, with prices in euros.
